There are various types of growths that commonly occur in the mouth. While the majority of these growths or conditions are typically benign, your dentist may refer you to our office for a biopsy. An oral biopsy is a procedure that removes a small sample of tissue from the mouth for laboratory analysis by oral pathologists. Oral pathologists are specialized dentists who can identify a wide variety of conditions using various microscopic techniques. Based on findings made by the pathologist, an accurate diagnosis and follow up plan can be made.
